Apple’s cheaper iPhone XR to generate more earnings: Analyst

Buyers are expected to be collecting Apple’s new iPhone XR at a fast rate than the luxury iPhone XS and XS Max, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities.

Ming-Chi Kuo has now estimated that the company will ship between 36 to 38 million units in the period and the estimate for total iPhone shipments to be 78 to 83 million units.

Apple says the iPhone XR will be available to pre-order from this Friday, October 19. Once the order has been placed, the XR will be available to collect in store the following Friday, October 26.

iPhone XR will launch in India and would be in stores on October 26, starting at Rs 76,900 for the 64GB storage variant, 7MP front camera, 12 MP rear camera, Apple 12 Bionic 3 GB Ram, 2942 mAh Li-Ion battery. The iPhone XR features an edge-to-edge 6.1-inch LCD panel against 5.8 inches for the XS.

The iPhone XR offers some features found in the most expensive iPhones, such as Face ID and larger display. It isn’t as water-resistant as the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max. However to keep costs down Apple has ditched the OLED panel found on the more expensive XS for an LCD screen.
